Come and see at our Global Customer Conference Series

As many of you will know, our Global Customer Conference series is drawing near and we hear from Keith Ricketts, Marketing Director at Sword Active Risk, about the list of illustrious guest speakers this year.

When we set about drawing together the programme for each of the events, we look to find inspirational speakers, who each have something to share about the human side and the practice of risk management. These, we find, complement the technical and commercial speakers to give you, our customers, a well-rounded experience.

This year, we are so happy to have found three highly experienced risk takers and risk managers; a gold medal winning Olympian; an Astronaut; and possibly one of the most senior risk managers in UK industry today. If you haven’t registered for the event as yet, you probably should! Here they are:

James CracknellJames Cracknell, Olympic Rowing Double Gold Medalist, OBE, MBE
Speaking at the Sword Active Risk Conference in London Mayfair on 5th June, will be double Olympic gold medallist James Cracknell, OBE, MBE, who has built an impressive career mitigating and managing risk. Now an accomplished broadcaster and regular speaker, athlete, sportsman, adventurer and risk taker, James has a long list of accomplishments. Winner of six rowing world championships, James has used his skills as a world beating athlete to raise huge amounts for charity in a series of high risk activities including rowing the Atlantic and racing across the inhospitable frozen wastes of Antarctica to the South Pole.

Jeremy Harrison, Interim Chief Executive of the Institute of Risk Management

Also speaking at the London event will be Jeremy Harrison. As well as being the Interim Chief Exec of the Institute of Risk Management, Jeremy chairs the British Standards Institute (BSI) Risk Management technical committee. He has over 20 years’ experience leading risk management across projects, safety, commercial and corporate business in the railway industry. Most recently, he spent nine years as ‘the risk guy’ at Network Rail developing the best practice risk approach to the £4.5 billion of projects delivered each year across the rail network. CIR Magazine recently awarded him Risk Personality of the Year 2013.

Mike MullaneMike Mullane, NASA Astronaut
The US Conference will take place at the Ritz Carlton in Washington DC on 25th/26th June. Speaking at this event will be NASA Mission Specialist Mike Mullane. Having completed three space flights aboard the shuttles Discovery and Atlantis, Mike probably knows risk better than most. As well as being an accomplished Astronaut, author, mountain climber and speaker, Mike has completed 134 combat missions in Vietnam, is a qualified USAF flight test engineer and has won many awards and medals including the Air Force Distinguished Flying Cross and Legion of Merit. A published author of four books, as well as one for children, and several DVDs, Mike has also climbed Mount Kilimanjaro and Mount Rainier as well as 35 14,000 feet plus peaks.

The last event in the series will take place at Sofitel, Brisbane on 30th September and we will be making further announcements about guest speakers for this conference soon.

We hope you are as excited as we are about this years’ programme. As well as this compelling list of speakers, we will also be bringing you news and previews of new product developments – including a sneak peek of early ARM 8 agile releases. There will be a number of free training sessions and an opportunity to network with your colleagues and peers from the Risk Management community.
