Martin Metcalf is appointed as the new CEO of Strategic Thought Group.

After 10 years of dedicated service, Richard Higgs stepped down as CEO of Strategic Thought Group plc on Monday morning. Using his drive, insight and enthusiasm, he expertly led the company to grow from a niche consultancy to the exciting global organisation with outstanding potential that it is today.

Richard joined the company in 1997, and was one of the key visionaries in the development of Active Risk Manager, our market-leading Enterprise Risk Management software. He has been a pivotal thought leader on the role of software in risk management not just within the company, but across the market as a whole.

Through his direction, Strategic Thought has now reached a point where it needs to move into the next stage of its maturity, to fulfill its potential as not only the developer of the world’s most comprehensive Enterprise Risk Management software, but also the market-leading provider of risk management software. Richard feels that the time is right for him to pass the baton to someone with experience specific to this demanding task, and therefore has made way for Martin Metcalf to take over as Chief Executive of Strategic Thought Group plc.

Martin has worked in the IT Industry since 1982 for organisations including Digital Equipment Corp and BT. Martin recently spent 12 years at SAP AG where, after a series of promotions, he became Regional Managing Director, Nordics, UK, Ireland & Africa: he was responsible for operations in 12 countries, revenues of over $1bn and more than 1400 staff. Prior to that, he held various senior executive positions with SAP in sales, marketing and operations. Strategic Thought is very excited to welcome Martin into his new role, and the company looks forward to him taking us to the next level of our development as a business.

Richard Higgs remains a major shareholder in Strategic Thought, and we look forward to his continued input into our business.
