Strategic Thought Group plc today announced the appointment of Chuck Hixson as the new President of Strategic Thought Inc.

Chuck has spent his career in sales and marketing in the IT industry having worked for IBM, BEA and more recently Borland Software in California where he was Vice President and General Manager Americas, and then Open Network as Senior Vice President of Worldwide Sales.  Chuck Hixson joins Strategic Thought from Indicative Software Inc (Co) where he was Vice President of Sales.

Hixson will leverage his extensive professional knowledge to drive sales and strategic partnerships to meet Strategic Thought’s corporate and financial objectives.  With more than 20 years experience in the technology industry, Hixson has worked closely with Fortune 1000 companies’ C-suite executives to deliver enterprise software solutions in multi-million dollar deals.

Martin Metcalf, CEO of Strategic Thought Group welcomed Hixson, “Chuck brings with him impressive experience, business development acumen and is a proven leader.  He will use his expertise to develop marketing and sales strategies that will focus on capturing market share with Fortune 1000 companies, taking Strategic Thought Inc to the next level of its growth.”

Strategic Thought Inc opened its doors for business in late 2004 in order to better serve the growing number of North American customers (such as Lockheed Martin and NASA) using its enterprise risk management software, Active Risk Manager (ARM).

Initially focussed on the Aerospace and Defense sector, ARM has continued to expand in the growth area of project risk management and enterprise risk management in addition to moving into the construction, energy and transport sectors.  Recent new contracts have been signed in North America with Northrop Grumman Corporation, which has bought a large number of ARM licenses for use throughout a major US Intelligence Agency.  There have been further new licences purchased by Hamilton Sunstrand, as well as Sandia National Labs, part of the Department of Energy.

“I see this as a great opportunity. Strategic Thought is a high-growth company with a world-leading product. Expanding the use of Active Risk Manager in North America presents both an exciting challenge and an exciting opportunity.  I am looking forward to building on the success that has been achieved so far,” said Chuck Hixson.

Most recently as Vice President of Sales at Indicative, Hixson established the company’s first direct sales team of inside, pre-sales and outside sales teams for North America, creating Indicative’s first direct sales customers.  He led the sales team to more than double revenue each year since 2004 and grew the team from three to eight territories, leading them to wins against some of the industry’s biggest names.

Martin Metcalf concluded, “Chuck will be taking over from Karl Pringle who set up and was responsible for the initial development of the North American business.  I am delighted to announce that Karl Pringle has accepted the role of Global Alliance Director.  Karl will draw upon his experience in the European and US risk markets to develop partnerships with companies and organizations that through complimentary products and services can influence and increase our market share.  These will include the world’s leading management consultancies, independent software vendors, related software industries, risk organizations and influencing industry bodies.
