Firstly, happy New Year to all. It is amazing how quickly time passes.
2012 has just barely begun, but like any good business I am sure everyone has already started to execute their plan to ensure 2012 is a success. With so much uncertainty in the world right now I wonder how many organizations took a risk-based view of their 2012 strategic planning? Successfully achieving one’s goals is about the appropriate understanding of those goals, and maybe more importantly the knowledge about what could stand in the way of achieving those goals.
Good businesses and organizations use risk management like a map, to guide them to the path which gets them to their goal the fastest, and with the least number of detours.
At Active Risk we spend a lot of time looking at our own strategy, but also looking at how we can ensure we know the risks and opportunities inherent within that strategy. This helps us ensure we are surprised less by the things which have the potential to move us away from our goals, and gives us insight into what more we can do to over-achieve.
So as we kick-off 2012, do you have your own map? Do you know how to get to your destination without taking unwanted, costly and time-consuming detours? If you do, great! If you don’t then get in touch and let’s talk about how we can help you get one.
